자음의 특징
- 성문 파열음 '는 모음 э', е', а', о' 뒤에만 온다.
- 순음 п, б, в 어두, 어중에서 올 수 있지만 ф는 어중에서만 온다.
- 전설 모음 앞에서 п, б, ф는 구개음화를 시킨다.
- 후설 자음 к, х, г 전설 모음 앞에서 구개음화를 시키고, 자음 к, х는 모음 а, о 앞에서 구개수음이 된다.
- м, н 어두, 어중에 오고 전설 모음 앞에 구개음화를 시킨다.
- ӈ 어두, 어중에 오고 구개음화를 시키지 않다.
- л 어두, 어중에 오고, 야간의 구개음화를 시킨다.
- р 거의 나타나지 않지, 어두에 오지 않는다. 전설 모음 앞에서 구개음화를 시킨다.
자음 동화
- к,х 뒤에 오는 모음 영향으로 구개음화 일어난다.
- 설첨음 н는 к, г 앞에서 후설음 ӈ 되고, ч, ӡ 앞에서 설면음 н'으로 변한다.
